Apprentice Films makes short films, features, animation and awareness work out of the North East of England. The work runs from dark comedy to surreal animation, and a good deal of it has been made with and for small rare disease charities.
How the films get made
Almost everything here is independently produced, crowd and self-funded, and crewed by the same group of North East filmmakers who keep turning up for each other. Those names are on the crew page, and on every film they worked on.
Recognition
Films from the studio have won Gold at the Smiley Charity Film Awards, Best Comedy at the Tees Valley International Film Festival and the Audience Choice Award at the BIFA qualifying Sunderland Shorts Film Festival, and have screened at festivals from Istanbul to Florence to Montreal. The full list is on the awards page.
